Congratulations! Are you becoming a full-time composer?

If the Lou Orch survives, why not send them your symphony? At least the group of the orch. musicians calling themselves Keep Louisville Symphonic might perform it.

This is a beautifully constructed arrangement of the old hymn tune with a number of effective motives and compositional devices. I especially enjoyed the melody on the cello and the ending motif. Keep up the good work!

hi carl,
the trio is based on the hymn tune "the old rugged cross." there are no real allusions to the crucifixion.

I have now listened to the composition on my computer. It seemed to me to begin with a somewhat forlorn expression that grew into strong affirming vision and ending with sense of peace and diminished presence of the vision of the earlier part.

Relation to the old rugged cross? It certainly began and ended without the violence of crucifixion, although the strength of affirmation suggested outcry without anger.

But maybe my response is off track!! I must listen again.
