Fall premieres

During the second week of October I’ll be returning Yakima, WA for The Seasons Music Festival.  The Yakima Symphony Chamber Orchestra will be premiering two new works: a song cycle commissioned by The Seasons titled Songs of Animals and Insects, setting texts by Emily Dickinson.  I’m honored to have tenor Rob Frankenberry and pianist Tanya Stambuk premiering. Also heard that week will be the first movement of my Symphony No. 1. There is an incredible amount of baggage for any composer who writes a “symphony.” I will identify and address said baggage in a later post, but for now I’m just writing music.

Congratulations! Are you becoming a full-time composer?

If the Lou Orch survives, why not send them your symphony? At least the group of the orch. musicians calling themselves Keep Louisville Symphonic might perform it.
